| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We drove South 3.7 miles on Coarser Brook Road from the jct of Greenough Pond Rd and Four Mile Brook Rd to and unnamed road on the left (we were coming from our whack to Crystal-South Peak). This unnamed road is 2.2 miles from NH Rte 26 on the right. We followed this road across a bridge then left to the height of land and a large turn-around spot. The road is 4-wheel drive and very narrow to this point. |

We took a bearing to a spot which looked like a col between two peaks and headed off through very thick overgrown hobble bush. Finally getting relief through some hardwoods and along a small creek. the track was interrupted by one relatively small cliff face which we skirted to the north and then back toward our intended summit. The top of this peak is pretty flat with many 'bumps' among numerous blowdowns making the going rough and all looked like they could be the high point (all around the 2,930' summit height). We finally found the recognized summit in what appeared to be the thickest trees surrounding and hiding it. Our work for the 200th of the NH200 was well worth it. We followed our inboond track off the summit until the brook and then followed it back to the road and a short 200 yard road walk. Thanks Gordon for a fantastic journey. |
