Comments
Comments: Up through the fallen and slippery leaves early, then this trail turns into a bog/running stream most of the rest of the way. There were a few pine groves, 5 crossings (1 at the end of rocky branch and then 4 on isolation trail which were not insignificant). There was even some light snow in the woods and a touch of slush on the trail in a couple spots at higher elevations. Steep spur to the top of Isolation off of Davis path. I must say that it was an interesting hike. Not steep anywhere until the very end (and it's not that bad and short). But, it is total wetness and mud - poles out and balancing from rock to root to tuft of grass. Quite a core workout. I can't say it was fun, just different (but it easily beats working). Gaiters is the way to go looking back, and bring those poles. Had the microspikes but didn't need them - warm up Friday and on Saturday melted most things. If it gets cold, you'll probably need them.
