I hiked this hill twice, once doing an out and back along Grasse Road Trail, and once doing a loop using Hemlock Trail, Fire Trail and a short stretch of Hemlock Road.
Mainly damp trail all around from overnight rains, but quickly drying out due to the high winds. Light snow showers off and on with a brief squall moving through just as I started the first hike.
Mainly easy trails with good footing although there are some short steeper sections. Nice views looking into Vermont at the open, grassy summit, but not expansive.
Blaze orange recommended in this area at the moment. Both trailheads currently offer loaner orange vests for hikers. |
