Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lower Bridle Path just beyond TH and Shannon Pond had large oak tree blow down. The crown was directly across the trail. I carry hand saw which I used to cut a path off to right just enough to enable passage. I left the rest of the crown to others with more time than I had. The crown is large with many branches and will take a lot of time to remove entirely.

Comments
Comments: There was no snow at TH parking lot. Snow developed from none to a dusting to moderate depth of 4" crusty snow making for difficult footing. As I got closer to summit of Shaw the snow was more like 5-6" with annoying crust. I stopped at Black Snout and snow was not so crusty in that neighborhood. Crusty snow made it hard to maintain pace so I ended up walking out in the dark with flashlight. Also clearing path around blow down took up some time. Sunny skies made for great day out. Views of Sandwich Range were very fine from Shaw summit and Lake Winnipisauke was easy to see on Old Bridle Path and very fine from Black Snout.
