Comments
Comments: the trail was mostly well packed powder. I put on snow shoes at the start and kept them on until a mile from the end. My son took his off 1/2 a mile up and bare booted up to Starr King, but was frustrated with slipping in the powder. He put his own at Starr King and kept them on for almost all of the descent. Lots of folks out on this trail today, about half wore snow shoes. No post holes but if the snow was any deeper there would have been. It's time to bring floatation (snow shoes or skis) and traction every time you hit the trails in the Whites. Almost Winter has come early this year.
