Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This morning the Community Forest loop lot at the end of Randolph Hill Road was plowed enough for one vehicle to pass but none of the parking spaces were cleared. I suppose I could have shoveled out a spot but instead I simply parked just below the loop where the plowing was wide enough for two vehicles. When I returned early afternoon a local resident was clearing some parking spaces with his tractor.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Unpacked Powder
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One large felled tree maybe .25 mile or so on Crescent Ridge Trail descending SW off of Crescent's summit. Two large and one mid-sized trees down on Carlton Notch Trail. None of these pose a real problem for passage as woods are open at these spots. All junctions are well signed and all trails are blazed in orange...though some blazes might not be as obvious as others.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any.
Bugs
Bugs: I saw exactly one.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: There was an average of 8-12" of new snow on the trails this morning. Snowshoes were the only option and I broke out the entire route with them, albeit slowly. I was the only one out there today and did the best I could so have at it.

I headed up the E side of the mountain and visited the north outlook first where I was greeted with low grey clouds. I went over to the south outlook and found more cloud cover - though I'd guess the cover was ~ 3500' which made for some interesting pics toward the Northern Presis. On my way out I made the short trek to Castleview Ledge where views were no better. Even still, the temps and winds weren't bad and getting out in the winter wonderland was a good way to spend a morning...even if it is a few weeks before winter.
