Comments
Comments: Start to finish in snowshoes today. I was the first up Crawford path this morning and found that it had been well packed down by snowshoers Fri/Sat. Very nice going up to the trail junction of Crawford Path and Webster Cliff Trail. At this point you could probably get away with just some light traction given how packed out it is. Crawford Path was not broken out past the junction of Webster Cliff, but I was feeling ambitions, so I broke trail solo over to the summit of Eisenhower. Some deep 3' drifts in spots headed over. The final above tree line push to Eisenhower summit is mostly wind driven crusty snow and ice, but was manageable with snowshoes all the way to the summit. On my way down I passed a hiker about .5 miles from the summit, which should help break out the trail even more. I did see more people up on Pierce, but I'm not sure they were planning on Eisenhower, and it would have been difficult for some given they had no snowshoes. Headed up to Pierce summit and down to Mizpah hut via Webster Cliff Trail. A couple of bare booters must have been the only ones up this either Friday or Saturday, and it sucked navigating the postholes from the summit of Pierce .9 miles down to the hut. Mizpah cut-off has been well traveled.
