Today was a banner day with no winds. Trail was very firm and snow was consolidated up to Pierce. Light traction was fine here. The snow was unconsolidated to Eisenhower and was chopped up and postholed by booters. Thankfully there were enough of us using snowshoes to keep the trail in fairly decent shape. I just don't understand why these booters (like Len who posted about his Liberty/Flume hike today) don't seem to care if they leave the trails in bad shape for all who follow. Not sure if they are selfish or ignorant. This problem seems to get worse every year. Very sad. |
