| Comments: |
Donned snowshoes on cog service road and crossed tracks after the first incline to access Jewell trail spur trail.
Broke out minimal depth new powder along trail until treeline. First few yards above treeline were slow with knee deep unconsolidated
drifting in the trail trench and hidden rocks. Conditions improved with elevation gain. Gulfside trail was good with crust and wind packed powder.
Made a good track all the way to Jefferson. Conditions will change with upcoming weather events.
There was a group of five barebooters which we encountered on our ascent, who tore up the track on the Jewell trail above treeline.
Increasing temps resulted in sticky snow and some snowshoe balling, otherwise a great day out for winter warm up. |
