Absolutely perfect weather for a hike. The ledges over Surprise are great, definitely recommend this route. Treadway is becoming solid and consolidated down low, and after some warmth today higher elevations are following suit. Tomorrow's weather should continue to aid in doing so, as well as possibly create new icing concerns. Trail is well packed and doable in spikes give you stay on monorail. Easily 2 foot snowpack Currently. I wore snowshoes most of the trip, switched to spikes for the last summit push and again once down into hardwoods as the trail is packed tight down there and to give the legs a break. Definitely an awesome day in the mountains! |
