Comments
Comments: A little bit of everything on this hike, depending on elevation. The entire route could have potentially been bare booted, thanks to the well traveled, semi-consolidated monorail, however, there were a few deeper drifts and icy spots above the hut which made either spikes or snowshoes the wiser choice. Nothing but light wind and sunshine on the ridge, with alternating wind-blown exposed rock and drifts to 24". Descending in the early afternoon down Falling Waters found softer snow and a few slushy spots, however, the water crossings were still fairly stable, although I imagine they probably softened up as the afternoon progressed in the mid 30's with direct sun.
