Comments
Comments: Lindsey and I choose Jackson as our attempted summit for the day following recent snowfall. Made it until about 0.15-0.2 of summit. Substantial drifts at last 0.5 miles, and at 5'0" this means business. A VERY VERY fun day. Snowshoes the entire time. No evidence of recent humans on trail and we saw nobody all day. Crawford Notch area as a whole was very empty. Around 6" of powder for trailbreaking at start and upwards of 24" after Webster/Jackson junction. 10/10 bring snowshoes. Our path from the morning was already filling in by the time we were heading down and with expected totals up to 6" overnight if you hike this Thursday or Friday MOST DEFINITELY have snowshoes and prepare for some major hip flexor work. Water/stream crossings all fine, awkward with all the snow but no issues. Lots of snow melt throughout day as all were higher on way down than way up. We did our best to clean up trail of downed limbs but there remain some and more will soon come.
