Comments
Comments: I started up the Monte Rosa trail on loosely packed snow. Fairy springs was also traveled but less packed. I made it to Monte Rosa itself but the trail wasn't broken out past there. I had to backtrack and go up the connector/cutoff trail to Smith Summit tr. This also turned into deep untracked powder further up. I continued following a bushwhack herd path into the woods, and it took me to White Arrow! I stuck to that trail for the rest of the day. Very well packed for the most part, although the top steep sections were more challenging with deeper snow on them. The Halfway House tr back to the lot was somewhat packed snow with some brooks on the trail.
TL;DR Stick to the main trails if you don't want to snowshoe, be ready to get some snow on your pants, and bring traction. Going down without it would be a lot harder.
