Comments
Comments: Was in Sunapee area and arbitrarily picked the first trail up I saw on google maps. Wore my snowshoes from the trailhead and never changed out of them but a lot of barebooters out there postholing and chopping up my nice work. I guess nobody before me made it further than 3/4 of the way to the pond since the last snow because I was breaking trail through at least a foot and a half of snow from that point up to Lake Solitude. From there, the trail was almost impossible to follow to the summit because 1) trail markers from there on are white and 2) the hanging branches from all this wet snow completely obscured the trail. Looking at my GPS, I was less than 200ft from the summit but after 15min of fighting my way through branches and getting slapped in the eyes and neck repeatedly, I bailed. 3 people were heading up when I was getting back to the car around 3pm. TBD if they made it to the top but Sunday’s weather is probably going to deter people from going up anyway.
