Comments
Comments: i opted to snowshoe up the ski trails which were groomed up to the lower lift on the east side. after that there were groomer tracks and active snowmaking areas to the upper crossing of the brook trail. brook trail had a frozen snowshoe track to the saddle. more of the same hard snowshoe track heading towards belknap on the range trail though it became increasingly rough to the summit. back at the saddle the trail was packed up to gunstock with active snowmaking at the summit. i dropped down the ski trails initially following the access road until the blowing snow from the guns was too much and i cut over onto the western most trail down to the range trail. the range trail to rowe was filled with frozen postholes. on the access road portion leaving rowe there were hard frozen snow cat tracks, but the snowshoeing to either side was pretty good. overall much better snowshoe conditions than in the piper/whiteface area yesterday.
