Parking/Access Road Notes: 200 yard walk from parking lot up 302 to base of Zealand Road

Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow/Ice - Postholes

Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction

Water Crossing Notes: 1-2 required human caution.  
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: perhaps two blowdowns requiring easy walk around or walkover 
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Djinda, (55 lb. golden, hesitant at several crossings) and got feet wet; required reapplying Musher's grease and frequent removal of sticky snow. Not recommended. She survived it well, but I would not put her thru cold feet brook crossings again

Comments
Comments: few postholes. Sorry we created some. Firm pack from snowshoers of last storm which iced over. Then covered by 1" (bottom) to 4" (height/ridge) of fluffy powder. Sticking to center of packed portion made easy hiking. toughest portion was 3/4 up, slabbing across slope (rather than up or down). debated if snowshoes would have provided any better traction than our microspikes
