Decided to splitboard/snowboard this fun peak as I've done in the past - always a crapshoot. No snow machine tracks (I think trails open up on the 15th?) BUT snow machine segment was DEEPLY rutted by tires and frozen into ruts. Lower section glades were perfect - a nice dust on top of the crusty snow held my weight and turned very well. Snow machine trail segment looks like it has been widened - the wide parts were really fun to snowboard. HOWEVER, it's a bad time of year to try to ski or ride this because I kept getting my board caught in the tire track and then it was a death ride down - fell a few times - no way to turn and get out of the rut - I eventually just hoofed that section until I could get off it. Woods were really nice on the ski "herd paths" - superb. |
