In hindsight, we perhaps should have parked on Miller Road and approached the peak from the NW, but we came in via Mountain Road from the NE as we were already in that area to hike Dalton.
From Littleton, Rt 135 north towards Dalton, to Union Rd., to Miller Rd., to Mountain Rd. (all plowed). Parked outside the plowed and gated north entrance to the Road Rally School, about a half mile up Mountain Road. There were no signs prohibiting entrance, so we walked past the gate along the wide, plowed, driving school road. About .75 miles in, we bushwhacked about .75 to the summit. On the way out, we intersected with a snomo road in a col; the road went north, but we figured it would hook back around with the rally roads, which it did.
As we were walking out, a young fellow (instructor?) was driving around and making donuts in the snow… and he stopped to inquire what we were up to. He was friendly, and didn't seem to mind that we were there, but advised us to keep the side of the road as they drive up there year round and there were cars on the course on the other end of the property.
Fun day out hiking three Dalton Peaks with Schorman and Lady Di. |
