The trails were broken on the entire loop, however little less packed snow between mount Hight and Carter dome but totally feasible without issues with just microspikes. On the rim, tree branches are present along the way ready to drop snow in your neck if you are not covered. The Ascent/Descent from the carter notch to carter dome is a bit steep, with very packed snow making it challenging without traction gears.
It took us 8h to complete the loop at a moderate pace with that wonderful day. The view was awesome from mount high 360 degrees, and no view at carter dome. Great hike! |
