Comments
Comments: First - thank you to those who broke out these trails - fantastic job!

Can this be done without snowshoes? Yes. Will snowshoes make it easier and save you time? Hell yes, especially on the steep Osseo ladder section along with areas heading down from Flume and up to Liberty on the FRT. At times I was post holing in my snow shoes near Liberty as there's still sections of the trail that were not crusted over (that and coming down from flume). At the start of the Osseo ladder ascents I struggled a bit in micros and switched to snowshoes. One of the people in my group struggled going up same section in hillsounds, watched me breeze on up in my Tubbs VRTs, and proceeded to switch to snowshoes. Another person in our group did quite well with just microspikes and carried snowshoes the entire way. Overall, put on my snowshoes right at the start of the steep Osseo ladder section, then removed them after Liberty, right after the steep section just below treeline. One member of our group had a sled which made for a fast descent of the never-ending Liberty Springs. Even though the trail was packed, there was still enough cushion to make it a fun glissade. Great company with Snickers and Lisa!
