Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were tons of blowdowns and bend-overs on the Bondcliff trail. There are 2 significant blowdowns between the bridge and the junction for Bondcliff which had well packed detours around them. There were a few that were large but easy to negotiate. We did a significant amount of trail cleanup on the smaller obstacles.

Comments
Comments: This was a challenging & frustrating day. Lincoln Woods is a hard packed highway to the Osseo Trail junction. After that, it's well packed but not as heavily trafficked. The Bondcliff trail along the river was also hard packed with trace of snow. We bare booted all the way to the turnoff for Bondcliff. After leaving the river, the snow was generally packed with a dusting of snow. I wore light traction. As we ascended, especially after the last stream crossing, the snow was soft and less packed. Snowshoes weren't needed until we got closer to the summit. Getting up and over the rocks to the ridge was challenging. The snow along the ridge to Bondcliff was soft and deep. As we got closer to the summit, it was icy and crusty along the trail with lots of spruce traps if you went off trail. Visibility was poor and we were navigating from cairn to cairn. It was also very windy with strong gusts. We got all the way down from Bondcliff but then lost the trail. We couldn't see any cairns or Bond's summit so we turned around. Long day for one peak! :(
