Comments
Comments: Unexpectedly, there were several inches of fresh snow since trip reports on 12/16. We started with snowshoes and kept them all the way. We lost the trail in a couple places. One spot resulted in my sinking both snowshoes in slush and water into one boot slightly. Didn't change socks, but had to take off the snow shoes and bang off 2 lbs of icy slush from each. Lost the trail again up higher and ended up coming out on the Washington side of the hut. Couldn't find it on the way down either. Measured wind gusts up to 46 mph, my current personal high. Given that, we abandoned the idea of trying for Washington. Some post holers carrying snowshoes were behind us on the way up. Met some cotton clad post holers on the way out down past the steep stuff.
