Comments
Comments: Had my mirospikes on the whole time. You could definitely get away with barebooting the trail, but they were helpful to have for the icy areas. The whole way up Gunstock was pretty dry, other than a few patches of avoidable snow/ice. After the Gunstock summit there was a fair amount of snow on the trail (Overlook) but it was packed/frozen from the recent rain and definitely didn't require snowshoes. Going back to the junction and up the Blue Trail to Belknap there was a fair amount of postholes from before the snow froze and firmed up, and I did not have any issues with postholing for the entire section of trail. After Belknap, the White Trail had some snow and ice, but mostly avoidable or easy to navigate with light traction. Old Piper Piper trails were similar, with Piper drying out towards the last segment.
