Cold day for a winter hike. Even as it warmed up, constant 30-40 mph wind from Pierce to Eisenhower was pretty chilling. Yay goggles
Crawford Path and up to Eisenhower has a monorail that is hard as a rock. Very little drifting down low. Maybe 2-3 inches as you get toward Pierce. Maybe 3-5 inches of drifting as you head toward Eisenhower. Eisenhower is icy. Wore microspikes and was fine but I could see how crampons are needed on this open dome.
The adventure over to Mizpah was similar but not as solid. Post holed from time to time at about 3 feet. Was a monorail there though. Trail was clearly less trafficked. Were the only footprints in the 2-5 inches of drift to the hut and up to Pierce
Saw some folks. Very little chit chat in the cold and wind. Some views off Eisenhower but Pierce was stuck in a cloud.
