Comments
Comments: Trail conditions were a real mixed bag - pretty much every surface imaginable, covered by about 2" of fresh powder. Spikes were perfect. Zealand Road to the trailhead was annoying to walk on - rutted and postholed, with everything disguised by the fresh snow, and really easy to turn an ankle.

The ladder up to Middle Sugarloaf peak was genuinely treacherous - filled with packed snow / ice. A few smack with an ice axe would clean it up easily, but we did it on hands and spikes, both up and (backing) down.
