Comments
Comments: the forest road leaves just past the parking area heading up hill and was previously travelled leaving a hard, booted up snowshoe track. the walking was fast up to the end of the main forest road after which i continued up the slightly overgrown extension still noting an old snowshoe track (hi campsite). at a likely spot where the road turns more to the south i left on a bearing towards the saddle between the twins. the woods were wide open and very nice with firm snow conditions. things got a little scrappier approaching the saddle followed by a bit of scrappy spruce up to the summit of twin south. nice view ledge west and south within spitting distance of the highpoint. i doubled back down to the col and headed towards twin north in mixed, scrappy, but never thick, woods. some nice open sunny areas and ledges on the climb up to the recognized highpoint. continued firm snow down to the col with shaw where i wound around to approach via the southwest ridge as the contours looked most tame. a couple minor steep pitches, but grippy snow and moderate woods up to the highpoint which now has a new register as the old one was wet and ruined. i followed my prints back to the col then opted to contour around from the col and cross the west ridge of twin north to regain my ascent tracks. this ended up working well with more of the same great snow conditions and decent woods. probably a bit easier than reclimbing given current conditions. i then followed my ascent tracks back the forest road and trailhead.
