Not even really sure where to start to describe this adventure. Snow and pre-dawn start made for poor visibility early on. No obvious tracks on black pond bushwack. We found our way to an ideal location on Lincoln brook trail but it was certainly a circuitous route. Inadvertently passed the start of the BBW so decided to brave the slide. Freezing rain & microspikes...what could go wrong? Made it to the summit and blazed our own trail back down to LB. Managed to fall into the river up to my mid thigh and elbow inwhen crossing on the way out but somehow my rain pants, gators & hard shell kept me dry. Made the trek back into difficult, slippery conditions. 3-4†of new snow out there, plenty of ice & water. Wear your waders, bring your spikes & snowshoes & get after it. |
