Comments: Decided to hit this 52WAV as my plan B after discovering that there's no current parking option at Mt Tremont. Black Mountain (Jackson) was a nice, short hike. Trail is super easy to follow (it's a ski trail after all, wide enough for a two lane road). Leading up to the cabin, it was nearly all snow covered save for some wet spots that you could easily walk around and stay on snow. Snow is thin in places and slushy/soft. I wore snowshoes the whole way and say another two people with snowshoes, plus another six with light traction. It was nice enough going up with a bit of a packed monorail, but the folks I passed on my descent who were all wearing light traction pocked it up pretty good, so I became less enthusiastic about trying to pack down the trail and keep it in good condition. Above the cabin (lock broken unfortunately, had been vandalized) the trail to the Black Mtn summit was not broken out, but only 2-4" of snow and easy to make due over the 0.4m. Summit had partial views and it was a nice enough day, mid/upper 30's F temp so there is plenty of melting over the past 48 hours ... could really use 12-24" of fresh pow. :)
