| Comments: |
Mt Langdon Trail was covered with a half foot (or so) of well-crusted snow. Looks like two people bare-booted 2 miles in on the Mt Langdon Trail on Friday, when the weather was warm. We wore microspikes in, generally avoiding their frozen footprints.
We started to sink into the snow at the junction with Mt Parker Trail. Changed to snowshoes to break trail, clear branches, and summit Mt Parker. Trail up Mt Parker was relatively easy to find and follow. On our way down Mt Parker, we passed a family heading up in microspikes. We found it easier to stay in snowshoes the rest of the day.
Fantastic views from Mt Parker! Some clouds blowing over the Presidentials at 5500' or so. Mt Washington summit kept peeking out just above the clouds, then disappearing in the clouds. Neat! All these years hiking in the Whites, haven't seen that before. Fantastic way to start New Year's Eve. |
