Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, December 30, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Decided not to attempt driving Thompson Road. turned out to be wise decision as there was significant washout halfway up the road. Someone had attempted it and had to back out long distance as there is no where to execute k-turn. Road walk had shallow crust and ice merited light traction. A heavy duty vehicle with genuine 4WD and high clearance could navigate the road. Chains would be nice as it was icy.

Comments
Comments: Already commented on Thompson road. Trail itself was mixture of open patches and shallow snow. I kept traction on for trail and tried to stay off rocks to avoid wear and tear to points. I had nice relaxing time hanging out on ledges with expansive views of Squam Lake, Red Hill, and Ossippee Range. I wandered up to check out Crawford Ridgepole Trail which didn't show much sign of travel. I hiked short distance towards Sandwich Notch Road. Ridge had 3-5 inches of crusty snow.
