Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, January 5, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Car planted at Indian Head resort as southern trailhead was not plowed. This led to a short three minute walk at end of day on snowmobile trail
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy to stay dry
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Great condition. Great blue blazing on MP Trail, yellow blazes on IH Trail could use a touch-up.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fin was the only pup out there and was very well behaved and friendly except when she growled at hikers who showed up after 10 minutes of having summit to ourselves. I was first embarrassed but turns out all three were post-holing fools so obviously she is a great judge of character and they deserved her ire!
Bugs
Bugs: One mosquito sitting in middle of trail-he was crushed in case he was a new cold-immune species carrying deadly viruses
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found my legs again after weeks of Mt. Willey recovery

Comments
Comments: Glorious day redlining and televating with my besties and my go-to canine sidekick, all of whom were very well-behaved today. Mt. Pemi Tril well broken-could have micro'd I suppose. Shame to the three barebooters who postholed an unbroken Indian head trail (4-12 inches powder over packed trail)! We met them as we were leaving summit and the three of us smoothed out their postholes as best we could; however, they were going to descend behind us so the trail will have postholing again. Bring your snowshoes and use them folks!!!
