Comments
Comments: Followed previously snowshoed trail approx .6 mile before starting bw. Route took us S then gradually modified to E as we traveled through wide open hardwoods. At 2200', directly W of summit we hit dense spruce that lasted until 2400' when we broke into scratchy spruce/fir. At this point the steep, ledgy terrain forced us to slab to the S and E until we found friendlier grades. Then turned directly N for easy hike through rather open woods to summit. Found recognized summit.
Surface conditions - 4" powder on a deep, consolidated base. This contributed greatly to successfully navigating through the narrow alleys in the spruce, and never falling into a trap.
