Comments
Comments: The trail is packed enough to walk single file while wearing snowshoes, sometimes the monorail shrinks to a very narrow strip. Passing can be tricky as the drifts to either side are very deep. I hiked with snowshoes for much of the ascent from the Tramway parking lot, up the Kinsman Ridge Trail, until reaching the talus near the summit of Cannon (after the overlook). Then I switched to microspikes to tackle the icy slabs up to the summit. Kept the spikes on for the descent. Some steep sections were slick with a loose top layer of snow, so I wound up glissading several times rather than try to side-step down them. Overall fun and accessible hike with a little traction.
