What a day to be above tree line. Started in Crawford notch at 8:30. Crawford path is a side walk but we used snow shoes just so we didn’t have to carry them. Plus i really love the traction on the Tubbs Alpine Flex. Made it to the Pierce junction with no issues. WE had a gentleman ask if he could join us for the journey up Ike. The stretch between Ike and Pierce required some care to stay on trail. There were quite a few drifts but all were manageable. The push up the summit cone was intense. We made good decisions, cleared off cairns for our return, and were treated to a reasonable 50-60 mph sustained at the summit. Took off after a few pictures. Glad we did as weather was quickly deteriorating. Made it out of there in record time. |
