Comments: One of those rare days in the whites with very light winds atop Mt. Washington as well as all the other peaks. A clear morning giving way to an overcast sky by mid-morning. Modestly warm temps were the given. The lower ammo was a mixture of packed snow with larger amounts of unpacked snow with elevation gain. Drifts around the Lake of The Clouds hut. Nice meeting all the hikers today including Kevin & Dennis, as with Trisha, Sage & Alex, & David, & Todd, and Rhonda and company later on. We all surged up Mt. Monroe with two opposing tracks. Crawford Path was next. As we all headed up Crawford path to Mt Washington in separate groups, multiple parties pasted us. A few were doing the traverse with one group actually in a slow runners pace blowing by us all (It was about 11 am and they were coming of Washington and moving southbound to Mt. Monroe) Once Leaving Washington, change of plan to take Jewel trail in lieu of the Cog Rail path for safety's sake. Upper Cog had slabs of ice proceeding downward, and not knowing conditions of the steeper parts that also may have consisted of sheets of ice (from the earlier recent rains) decided to bail and head onto Jewell. A great and rare windless day to be climbing in the Presi's. Many people finishing the W 48 today, I among them. Many fun and exhilarating adventures were had.
