| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is in decent shape -- just one small duck-under and one small walk-around. Quite a bit of wind-blown detritus that we cleared out. Still a few small bent-over saplings that are face-slappers. |

Some of the best winter conditions we've ever seen on the Manning Trail -- good snow and no need for anything but snoeshoes.
We broke trail through about a foot of new, dry powder, which increased to about two feet and sometimes deeper drifts near the summit. Snowshoes the entire way -- trail is broken but not consolidated.
The usual tricky steep eroded spot just before the upper ledges, often a blue ice cascade, had quite a fit of snow -- snowshoes were easy here.
On the upper ledges there's complete coverage and enough snow to stay in snowshoes, especially where it's drifted.
Light traction and traction stayed in the pack.
Beautiful early sun on the summit -- no wind, blue skies.
NOTE: about 0.1 miles before the summit, someone who went up several days ago a created dead-ended track while looking for the trail. Pay attention here, as this route takes one way off trail, about 100 feet south of the actual route and just east of some tough ledges. If you know the trail on the upper ledges, despite the snow-covered cairns, you'll be fine. If not, follow our track, which follows the actual trail.
