Comments
Comments: A NEW HAMPSHIRE HIGHEST 500 peak. Solid tracks out and back. Grab them before the storm this weekend. I grabbed the other peaks that make up the Cilley Range later this fall but never got over to Grandview. I was trying to avoid the lengthy haul out there by snomo track. I did some research about the high tension wire path that cuts it's way south from Rt. 112 or west from Rt. 3. There was no parking along route 3 so I opted to park at the fire road gate at Crooked Pine Road. I broke trail along the high tension swarth for approximately 1.12 miles, in snow ranging from 6 inches to a foot at times. At the swarth junction where the wires bank a hard left toward route 3, I turned right at the frozen bog. From there it was another mile to the summit in mostly open woods. The progressively deepened along the way, up to my knees at times. Multiple small partially brook crossings littered the way, with one snow bridge collapsing underneath me, but otherwise manageable. Tons of fresh Moose track and beds closer to the summit. 2 of the original steel fire tower supports were visible at the top. Partial views looking east toward Tripoli Rd n the way down.Enjoy!
