Comments
Comments: Posting conditions for posterity mostly... because I think today's effort deserves it! Tomorrow's storm will wipe out most work we did, though perhaps it's notable that the Nancy herd path is at least broken out, under whatever covers it in the next 24 hours!

Tough, long day, especially on that steep climb up Nancy proper. Seven of us -- Tim (this was his Winter NE 99/100!), Pam, Jess, Beth, Mike, George, and I -- took turns breaking trail, from a few inches down low over a single set of recent tracks snowed over, to 2+ feet heading up the Nancy mass. Slow, slow going on that last slog, stayed mostly on the herd path but did lose it a couple times. Spruce traps and hollow spaces around the bog bridges caught at least a few of us several times. Lotta snow up there already, and it's gonna get even better.

Walked across Norcross Pond along the stunning view of Mt. Anderson to the left, with a hazed sun hovering above; and to that sweeping view of the Bonds straight ahead, with a bit of the Twin and Franconia ridge peaks beyond. Gorgeous day to be out, if a bit cold. This is what winter hiking's all about.
