Comments
Comments: We knew that we’d be first ones up this way after the storm. Didn’t see anyone else all day. The snow down low was 6-12 inches deep while the snow up high was 2-3 feet deep. Everything had a solid crust that covered soft fluffy snow. We were able to easily follow the route up to the ledges, which is where we started encountering significant drifting. We also managed to follow most of the Kate Sleeper Trail - only losing it once to go around a cluster of blowdowns and then at the end when we simply headed towards the summit. Have to thank Erik B and Tom L for this one - it was a hard-earned team effort. The trail is now broken - we didn’t do the short section up to the actual summit of Whiteface though - if you go you’re on your own. :-)
