Comments: Had time for a quick morning jaunt to Wildcat D and back down. Snowshoes all the way. $10 for an uphill access pass. The ticket counter was not open when I started, so I paid when I finished. Snowshoed up Stray Cat, Middle Polecat and Upper Polecat, the designated uphill route as found on their website. Polecat trails freshly groomed this morning, but Stray Cat had more drifting, still not bad. Tracked out the short spur trail from top of the Wildcat Express Quad chairlift to D summit. Had not been traveled recently. At times I sunk to my knees or mid-thigh, also for some of it I stayed right on top of the 4-foot deep firm drifted slab. Never knew which was coming next. Snowpack is very deep, so lots of branches to contend with. Snow is deep on the platform, up to the level of the hand railings. No tracks going over to C. Many friendly skiers who stopped to say hello. Only 1 other hiker who was starting as I was finishing. Surprisingly had some blue sky and sun, expecting all clouds.
