Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossing on Dicey Mills at 2300ft was tricky. No snow or ice bridges available. We choose to go up stream about 50ft to cross where the stream became narrow. Rock hopped with snowshoes submerging twice which was not an issue.

Comments
Comments: Road walk to trailhead: very icy

Blueberry ledge trail: well packed highway down low and to the summit of Whiteface

Ledges: first one(the trickiest) was not too bad, need to be Cautious. The rest of the ledges were still covered with snow with no issues.

Rollins Ridge Trail after the Whiteface Summit: we knew going in that this could be our biggest challenge. Without a doubt we were right. Although there wasn`t as much snow as before the rainfall I suspect, the 1-2inch ice crust made up for that. Wasn`t sure if going through 2-3 feet of powder would have been easier. Either way, the challenge was awesome. We contended with these conditions for the 8 remaining miles. We could stay on top, sink 2-4-8-18inches, either way the conditions were all over the place. I do believe we carved out good platforms in dangerous drop off areas along he ridge, for folks to have a better time traversing.

Dicey Mills Trail: More of the same. It was unbelievable. Especially going down from the Rollins Junction. The snow had really been blown in this area with a hard crust on top. Sometimes we broke through up to our knees in spots. Breaking crust at a 30-40 degree angle was very interesting to say the least. #getoutthereanddoit

Dicey Mills after the water crossing: the crust was still there but was not near as bad as the rest of the trek.
