After the recent torrential rain, there was some significant snowmelt along the access road and the Winslow Trail. On the flip side, there was some significant ice in areas, likely due to a rapid temperature drop. I turned back at the steep middle section of the Winslow Trail because of some gnarly glacier-like ice flows. I could also faintly see more ice flows above where I turned back. If I had all day, I'd at least give it a shot, but I started late, so I didn't want to chance it. If you do come here in the coming days, crampons wouldn't be out of the question to get up or down that icy area; light traction is fine otherwise. |
