Comments
Comments: We headed out with microspikes and had no problems until we got to the steeper section of Glenncliff tr. where we switched to snowshoes, which allowed us to keep from breaking through the solid base and wore them all the way to the summit. As usual on moose, it was quite windy and cold. Most of the carriage road was solid with a few drifts, but more ice and rock as we got closer to the summit. Someone with snowshoes had been out to South peak, but we skipped it this trip. Met a big group on our way down who were all in crampons, which was breaking up the base and opening up a couple feet of soft snow. What are people thinking? We did our best to smooth it out, but I'm sure they re rototilled it on their way down. Be prepared.
