I was attempting to finish my red-lining of Castle in the Clouds. I needed a 0.9 section of the Black Snout Trail. The lower section of the Shaw Trail was firm and we started out with spikes We soon changed to snowshoes. There was one set of boot track that turned into postholes in front of us. There were 5 of us so we packed the trail down pretty well between going up and down. When we reached the junction with the Black Snout Trail, the tracks turned right. We needed to go left so I could complete the lower section and then head up to Shaw. I took a few steps down the trail, breaking through the crust up to my knees in snow. I decided not today and headed back down the Shaw Trail |
