Comments
Comments: Did this one with a great group of energetic trailbreakers - Tabitha, Pam, Mike, Mark, Lynn, Jess, Erik, Beth, and Alex. The Bunnel Notch Trail is well packed but sadly we were only able to use about 1/4 mile of it. The junction with the York Pond Trail confirmed our expectations - this route hasn’t seen much action in quite a while.

The snow was deep but fortunately the woods are somewhat open so we were able to use the trail as a “suggestion” - we were usually very close to the actual trail but we also took some liberties and picked the path of least resistance. The biggest deviation was the descent from North down to the col - instead of looping around to the east we just went straight down. There were a few blowdowns that forced us around but in most places the trail corridor was “fairly” obvious.

The snow down low didn’t harden much and was still sloppy when we came back through while the snow up higher did firm up to make a nice track. Took us about 7 hours to reach south and about 3 hours to get back to the cars. Wore snowshoes the whole day.
