Comments
Comments: Black Pond bushwhack seems like only safe option in minimizing water crossings. We explored returning via non bushwhack to Franconia Brook but could not find safe option to cross Lincoln Brook at intersection of Black Pond bushwhack and Lincoln Brook Trail. There was no evidence of anyone having gone that way. Lincoln Brook Trail has a number of places that hang on the side of the brook bank and these were very slippery (use caution). On return we found ourselves post holing on a number of occasions even with snow shoes. Trail was well packed down up to false summit and then minimal heading over to actual summit. Should be easier at this point. Enjoyed a moose sighting near the top crossing on Lincoln Brook Trail.
