Comments
Comments: Waiting out the rain today was a good call. After the rain and a thin coating of slush Diceys Mill had been untouched. I made it up to the junction with Rollins trail (which looked well packed out) spikes only. I switched to snowshoes there, mainly to use the televators on the steeper sections. The monorail is still somewhat unstable so snowshoes are best descending when you're putting more force on the snow. I switched back to spikes before the crossing and rocked those back to Ferncroft. Temps were in the upper 30s when I started and quickly dropped as the winds picked up. Things were freezing up nicely. You could get away with spikes only, but be mindful to stay on monorail as it is very soft once you step off. Someone post holed some sections of trail so watch out for that as well. Enjoy!
