| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking lot is icy. A bucket loader had sanded by the time we returned, and was hard at work widening the road into the parking. THANK YOU! |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The often-tricky crossing was OK, with care, but deceptive. Straight across looked smooth all the way but was THIN & dangerous; but looping slightly upstream (where others have left tracks) was safe. New snow cover may make it tougher to see what's risky. |

| Comments: |
The trail was well packed & crusted. Microspikes were just the thing--at least until the next snowstorm. We could see tracks where others had come in via the Forest Service access road, presumably to avoid the stream crossing. It looked as though they post-holed most of the way, though there was clearly older snowshoe compaction underneath.
As always, fantastic views. |
