Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Y jct where 2 plowed roads each lead to different sides of Success Pond. This point is approx 12 miles from start of Success Pond Road. SPR extremely slippery, with stretches of glare ice. Even with 4WD with excellent snow tires traveling at 10-15mph, vehicle still managed to slip 'n slide a few times.

Comments
Comments: road walk, unofficial snomo trail, bushwhack

Annoying, tiring breaking conditions due to unsupportive crust. Easy grades. Eventually mostly wide open, but often whippy woods.
From the car, we soon entered the woods to start the bw to the WNW. BAD choice. For the next .5 mile we had to contend with miserable thick spruce/fir growth, sprucy conditions, and then thick whippy woods before emerging into reasonable woods. Eventually we crossed an unofficial snomo trail at 1750'. Wide open woods from that point to the recognized summit.
Followed tracks on return until snomo trail. Followed this NE to where it meets the plowed road at 1700' approx .5 mile NW from the car. The dashed line on topo maps is exactly where this snomo trail lies.
