road walk, unofficial snomo trail, bushwhack
Annoying, tiring breaking conditions due to unsupportive crust. Easy grades. Eventually mostly wide open, but often whippy woods.
From the car, we soon entered the woods to start the bw to the WNW. BAD choice. For the next .5 mile we had to contend with miserable thick spruce/fir growth, sprucy conditions, and then thick whippy woods before emerging into reasonable woods. Eventually we crossed an unofficial snomo trail at 1750'. Wide open woods from that point to the recognized summit.
Followed tracks on return until snomo trail. Followed this NE to where it meets the plowed road at 1700' approx .5 mile NW from the car. The dashed line on topo maps is exactly where this snomo trail lies.
