| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Nobody parked in the actual lot as it wasn’t plowed. Only room for 3-4 conscientiously parked cars in the smaller lot below. We were the 4th there around 10:15 and there wasn’t room for us so we parked in the pulloff. One of two cars there upon our return at 2:45-3:00. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Wet/Sticky |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
None of any consequence |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The red and blue diamonds used to mark the trail are relatively frequent particularly the red ones on Red Hill Trail. Still, the Cabin Trail above the old hunters trail was difficult to follow. Some blowdowns in the way of things on the upper Cabin Trail but they were easily walked around. We saw many other blowdowns but they were all off trail :) |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a few and they seemed to be doing fine. |

| Comments: |
Did this one with the parents. We could have used snowshoes the whole way but we used spikes until the Cabin Trail turned off the snowmobile trail. The snow was kind of crusty and sticky as we broke it but it wasn’t entirely supportive so snowshoes were best. That said, you could have barebooted without postholing I think; you just would have been consistently sinking a couple inches.
Warm but windy day to go somewhere I’d never been before :) |
